Tanya and Craig had a super sweet engagement session at Stan Hywet! These too are so in love and totally smitten for each other! They are getting married the day after Thanksgiving at The Arcade in Cleveland Ohio. I am so excited for their wedding and also very excited to share their engagement photos with you!
Wedding Day Details
Something Borrowed from the Bride:
“A dear friend is allowing me to borrow her late mother’s fur stole as my “something borrowed”. I love history and historical fashion, so it’s incredible to me that women wore elegant accessories like this on a “night out”. Can you imagine? For me dressing up is sometimes wearing mascara! The stole is from Higbees and it has her name embroidered inside. I am honored that she is allowing me to borrow something so special on my wedding day.”
Inspiration for the wedding day:
“Definitely vintage! We are getting married at the Arcade downtown, which was built in the 1890’s. All of our stationary and signage has a late 1890’s feel. I found an old postcard from the early 1900’s of the Arcade that will be used as an envelope liner for our vintage inspired invitations. Vintage stamps have been collected and will be used too 🙂 There are a lot of lovely vintage details that will be seen throughout.”
All about her GORGEOUS ring:
“As mentioned, I am a history lover. Aside from my love of history in general, I am also fascinated by kings, queen, emperors, etc…with my favorite being Napoleon. So my ring is a replica of the ring Napoleon gave Josephine in 1796. It is a “moi et toi” style ring with a pear shaped diamond and a pear shaped blue sapphire to compliment. I thought rose gold would be a fitting tribute, as “Rose” is actually Josephine’s real name.
When Napoleon purchased the original ring, it was thought to a wild extravagance, as Napoleon was a military officer at the time and not a man of serious means. The ring was kept in the family for many years and was put on auction in 2013, and that’s when I first learned about the ring.
Craig and I had talked about an engagement, and we did look at rings in more contemporary styles. I think I was reading a book about Napoleon and Josephine when I remembered the auction and the ring. From there, Craig found the setting, the stones, and had it created.
It is absolutely unique, romantic, and perfect for me.”
